Seeach Sod's outreach program

For a number of years, Seeach Sod has invited students of yeshivot and seminaries, as well as visitors from other groups, to learn about our mission by visiting our main building, hearing about our programs, and interacting with the individuals we serve. Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the necessary health precautions, these visits are not possible this year, but we have decided to bring the Seeach Sod experience directly to the students in the yeshivot and seminaries, either by Zoom or with a personal appearance by a representative from Seeach Sod. After an informative video, the climax is an interactive program in which the students prepare a card and treats for Seeach Sod students.

Coronavirus and volunteer

For a number of years, students at numerous seminaries have volunteered at Seeach Sod. Although the coronavirus and the mandated health guidelines have made this more difficult this year, we have come up with creative ways for students to continue to contribute. The students at one seminary have been making pillows for the residents in our Supported Housing program. Some students have run weekly Zoom programs for the women in the residences.

Mesoras Rochel Seminary

This year, the Mesoras Rochel Seminary will run their chessed program with Seeach Sod.

For the second consecutive year, Seeach Sod had the unique opportunity to participate in the worldwide Shabbos Project. This year, our Ashira program for girls with intellectual disabilities or on the autistic spectrum partnered with the Yachad Onward program run by Mrs. Chana Kitov, who is always on the lookout for creative ideas to inspire the next generation of Jewish women. While adhering to the coronavirus guidelines, we the two groups had a wonderful time together.

Ohr Somayach's

21.2.2020

On February 21st, Seeach Sod was honored to host Ohr Somayach's Ohr LaGolah program, a unique program headed by Rabbi Alter Klein in which participants learn tools to work in different capacities of Jewish education in the Diaspora. As part of the program, Rabbi Klein felt that it is crucial for the group to see how Seeach Sod is helping disabled individuals in the religious community.

The men were thrilled to hear the singing of Chazan Menachem Eisenbach, and they received a special Kohen’s bracha from Chaim Cohen, who is enfused with enormous simcha despite his many challenges. They also heard the heart-warming singing of Nati Weinstein, an autistic young man.

David Lukin, a social worker at Seeach Sod, gave an informative speech on how Seeach Sod meets the needs of every individual we serve. The group then walked to nearby Beit Metzudot, where they heard from principal Rabbi Moshe Beller about how the school is working to better the lives of severely challenged children.

There's no doubt that Ohr LaGolah members left with a deeper understanding of the special needs community.
