Supported Housing Program
Independence | Dignity | Social Environment
Seeach Sod’s Supported Housing Program serves adults with various functional difficulties and disabilities aged 21 and up, as well as younger individuals referred by the Department of Welfare. There are a number of apartments intended for groups at various levels of independence, ranging from individuals who can function independently and maintain employment to individuals who are fully dependent on others to assist them with their daily needs. The benefit of this wide range of options is that each individual is placed in an apartment that is appropriate for him or her.
The Supported Housing Program is divided into three groups:
Rehabilitative apartments for individuals with higher intelligence |
Apartments for individuals on the autistic spectrum |
Apartments for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The residents are divided by age, level of functioning, and religious background. |
Personal Advancement and Recreational Activities
A personal development program is built for each resident based on his needs and personal preferences. The program uses recreation time to develop skills through integration in the community, such as activities in the community center, clubs, shopping, etc.
Strengthening the Bond with Family
The staff of the Supported Housing Program consistently emphasizes maintaining the connection between residents and their families. Family visits are greatly encouraged. Each apartment arranges enjoyable events in which residents host their families, including activities for adults and fun days for younger relatives.
The apartments place great emphasis on a sense of maintaining the residents’ connection to their communities through participation in shul, a Rebbe’s tisch, and events.
Staff
Each apartment is assigned an apartment supervisor, counselors, a social worker, a medical nurse, a psychologist, a physical therapist, an occupational therapist, art therapists, and a home economics instructor. Dieticians and developmental doctors provide guidance through partnership with the residents’ health clinics.
Seeach Sod operates 50 apartments in Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, and Beit Shemesh
