Celebrating the best fitness program ever created for special needs adults!

The Shvil Yisrael project began in 2014 with a large shipment of brand new colorful Saucony sneakers being delivered to every resident in a Seeach Sod group home. Funded by the National Insurance Institute foundation, Seeach Sod’s 230 residents were given the opportunity to get into shape and learn to live a healthy life! The project included teaching the residents about healthy eating habits, creating a schedule where each resident was working out at least 3 times a week, and it placed a focus on healthy living in all 40 homes!

On Thursday, Dec. 1st, the residents  celebrated the culmination of the project, although all the equipment that was purchased will continue to be used daily!

Due to rain, the program was switched from taking place on a part of the actual Shvil Yisrael (Israel's national hiking trail), and was celebrated instead in Seeach Sod's main hall in Jerusalem.

The hall was decorated magnificently and healthy food was displayed for all the guests which included the male and female residents, their staff and special delegates from the National Insurance Institute Foundation.

Each resident received a certificate of completion and stood proudly while being photographed. After Rabbi Levy, the CEO, spoke a few special words in celebration of this great accomplishment, Shmuel Weinglass, CEO of the NII foundation, spoke and shared his deep pride in being affiliated with such a magnificent project and organization. Two residents also spoke beautifully explaining how the program impacted their life, and they thanked the funders and all the Seeach Sod staff that were involved!

After all the residents received a certificate, six visiting members of the NII foundation were presented with small token gifts of gratitude.

The boys danced to live music, everyone ate a delicious healthy lunch, and all left the celebration with a raised glass singing, “L’Chaim, to good health!”
