Otzar Yerushalayim held an evening of preparation with Rav Shimonovitz. A large table was laid out with a perfect demonstration of the Passover Seder beginning with Kiddush, and Rachatz. Various Halachot were studied as well as ideas and thoughts related to the Seder and Passover.
The residents of the various homes took on the task of preparing the homes for Pesach. They took their tasks of cleaning the closets, refrigerators, and marking the chametz areas like regular professional “balabustim.”
It was hard work, but one wouldn’t know it with all of the smiles and the spirit of Pesach in the air.
In the Had Gadya summer camp for preschoolers and kindergartens, the children kept busy with enjoyable and productive activities. These included music concentration, plays, games, a movie about Passover, a fascinating puppet show, jumping on a trampoline, and picture making galore!
The children made a Pesach gift for their families, and each one received a chametz checking kit including a garbage container, the text of the blessing, and a feather.
A special day was devoted to the cleaning of the home where the children learned about the importance and beauty of maintaining personal and environmental cleanliness. There was a cleaning competition, and each child received toothpaste and a fine toothbrush.
To end the activities, there was an illustration on how to make matzot.
The children and parents enjoyed the event so much that they didn’t want it to end.
Moaz Yerushalayim enjoyed a “Ma Nishtana” camp. The program included rhythmic activities, an audio-visual show, the preparation of a huge Haggadah, plays, visiting a petting zoo, and the fun just kept going on and on.
In the Kollel of Otzar Yerushalayim, the students learned about making matzot in conjunction with the study of Halachot. They were put to the test when they actually made matzot!
