Trip to Old City

The Ma'oz Yerushalyim's theme of this year is none other than: Yerushalayim. After months of learning about the old city and its history, grades 5-12 went on a day trip to the Old City of Jerusalem.

They first walked around the Rova and had a tour of all the ancient houses. They saw old architectural building and shuls while learning about its history and what it looked like 2000 years ago in the times of the Beit Hamikdash. The girls, as they walked down the steps towards the Kotel, saw the big replica Menorah displayed in all its beauty. It was truly amazing for the girls to see its intricacies, especially after they had learned all the details of the original Menorah.

It was very cool for them to see it up close and personal! After the Western Wall, they went into the Kotel Caves. They had a tour with a guide and they saw a mini-model of Har Habayit. They also saw huge rocks from the time of the Beit Hamikdash and one stone that was 14 meters long!

The went to the spot where the Kodash Kidashim was and there they stopped and prayed and said Tehilim.

The trip was huge success and the girls absolutely loved bringing their school lessons to life!
