Pampered in Ranana

Being a mother of a special needs child is a 24/7 job that rarely gives the body, soul or mind a rest. That is precisely why organizing a day for the mothers of our students is so necessary. The beauty of the annual day-trip to Ranana, which took place on Monday, June 22nd, was that the mother's received a temporary relief of their constant caretaking.

16 English speaking mothers of students in Seeach Sod enjoyed a full day trip, with transportation to and from Ranana, as well as the entire days' events, free of cost. As each mother entered the exquisite home of Shula Yativ, the special woman who gave her house for the days event, they signed up for the treatments they wanted to receive that day. There were six volunteers that came and gave their services for free including, a masseuse, a reflexologist, a makeup artist, a facial cosmetician, and two manicurists. Each mother received as many of the services as they wanted. While the women were receiving treatments, there was an outdoor pool open for swimming and a beading class taking place where women designed beautiful bracelets made of precious beads filled with color and quality materials.

When the therapies, pool and beading came to an end, the mothers partook of a magnificent lunch complete with dairy dishes, salmon, incredible salads, lasagnas and  an array of fruits an desserts. As lunch winded down, the women got together for a small group discussion with one of Seeach Sod's social workers, Doreen Winter, who led a discussion on the miracles that the mothers have witnessed in their lives with their children. The mothers shared their experiences and stories of different miracles they had seen over the years and the bonding and sense of friendship around the table was truly meaningful. At the end of the day, each mother received a small gift and every volunteer got a Lilac Flower soap arrangement from Seeach Sod as a token of thanks. The good bye's were heartfelt and after 5 hours of pure relaxation, joy and serenity, the mothers went home feeling rejuvenated and pampered.

A big thank you to Seeach Sod's staff member Mrs. Rivka Bergstein who organized the days event; Doreen Winter, who played an integral role in the energy of the day; to Shula Yativ who opened her home for the event; to Shuli Brigs who consolidated all the volunteers and managed the days event, to all the volunteers and therapists who came and spent their time and energy with the mothers, and of course to all the mothers who joined!
