The bonfire lighting was directed by the menahel of the Otzar HaTorah yeshivos, Rabbi Avraham Kaufman, who welcomed the Rebbe of Zvill shlita who for many years has been accompanying Seeach Sod and had a share in the establishment of its institutions.
The menahel, Rabbi Avraham Kaufman, spoke about the week's parshah, Bechukosai, and its topic of toiling in Torah learning. He described the effort that the boys in yeshivah invest and the dedication of the staff – all a true personification of what "toiling in Torah" means. He also recounted the Gemara's teaching about Rav Freida, who taught his student the same topic four hundred times in one session and when necessary – even repeated his lesson eight hundred times – until his student fully understood it. Yeshivah Otzar HaTorah, Rabbi Kaufman concluded, is a direct continuation of Rav Feida's teaching in that sense.
CEO Rabbi Shimon Levy, who holds a decades-long tradition of opening the Lag BaOmer events at the yeshivah with the students, spoke extensively about the days of Sefiras HaOmer, the lack of kavod that led to the terrible pandemic during these days, and how the respect that the boys in Yeshivah Otzar HaTorah show for each other serves as the response to the tragedy that these days commemorate.
The Rebbe of Zvill shlita thanked the CEO and said that after an inspiring hadlakah such as the one celebrated at the event, they "have what to come with to Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai." The Rebbe also expounded on the tremendous virtue of learning Torah through effort and blessed the rabbanim and the students with much success.
After the bonfire lighting, the Rebbe asked to view the shiurim rooms and beis midrash, and expressed his admiration for the level of learning.
The boys continued to sing dance for a long time, to the music of an extended orchestra conducted by famous musician Rabbi Mordechai Goldman, with clarinetist Ari Brand and keyboardist Shimon Eizenthal.
