The boys of Seeach Sod's Otzar Yerushalayim boys' school marked 7 Cheshvan, the day in which we begin to pray for rain, with a fun school-wide activity. They sang and performed for other classes and watched the teachers' demonstrations of the importance of rain to the world.
The boys were then divided into groups based on the words of the prayer, "Veten tal umatar livrachah," and enjoyed a treasure hunt, competitions, and other fun activities. The boys had a blast!
Winding down at the end of the long, packed day, the boys watched an educational video about Choni Hame'agel and received a personal gift: warm winter socks.
Wishing everyone a healthy, happy and warm winter…with lots of rain!
"7-Cheshvan" Fun Day at Maoz Yerushalayim
On 7 Cheshvan, the day in which we begin to pray for rain, Maoz Yerushalayim Girls' School held a school-wide program on the subject.
First, the girls heard all about the importance of water and of asking for rain, and why we begin to pray for rain only on this date. They watched a fascinating slide show on Choni Hame'agel, learned a song about rain, and enjoyed watching the fourth graders' performance and joining along with the motions to the song.
In the second part of the program, the girls were divided into groups and played an exciting Find-the-Card game on the season. It was great fun, spinning the umbrella on the board and searching for the missing card!
Toward the end, the girls received "clouds and rain" made of cups with rice, which they tapped to the beat of the song. Each girl received a gift set including a game, a bookmark to help remember to say "Veten tal umatar," a water bottle, and delicious, "cloudy" cotton candy.
