But when the trip's destination suddenly had to be reexamined at the very last moment due to increased Coronavirus cases in Cyprus, providers and friends of Seeach Sod stepped up in a most incredible way, and virtually overnight the retreat was transferred to David Intercontinental Hotel in Tel Aviv.
The parents enjoyed a selection of programs, lectures and workshops, as well as unparalleled cuisine. Beit Yisrael catering, specially brought in from Yerushalayim, outdid themselves with the huge variety of foods served and attention to every detail – especially astonishing considering the short notice.
On Thursday night, the men enjoyed a unique kumzitz at the beach with Rabbi Chilik Frank, while groups of Tel Aviv residents gathered to watch and connect. In the meantime, the women were treated to an entertaining drama reflection show with Poenta.
On Friday, the parents visited Atlit Detention Camp, following the path of the illegal immigrants attempting entry into Eretz Yisrael in the 1940's. They were also treated to a pleasant boat ride along the shores of Acre, replete with delightful surprises.
Shabbos ushered in stirring davening and lavish seudos. Rabbi Yaakov Schwartz, the director of the Nofshon, held the parents spellbound with his extraordinary account as a survivor of the Meron tragedy, thanks to his work. The fathers watched a fascinating 3-D show of Yerushalayim, while the mothers enjoyed a hilarious stand-up comedy by famous Michal Levitin.
Parents share:
"As a parent of more than one child with special needs, you gave me so much joy and strength to keep going. I really appreciate that!"
"I knew I was going to enjoy myself, but I didn't realize how much!"
"At first, when the trip to [Cyprus] was canceled, I was very disappointed. Now I can't figure out what I thought I'd be missing!"
"We returned from the vacation a far more strengthened couple. We've been through a journey."
