The celebration began on Wednesday, when the Torah leaders of the city came to complete the Sefer Torah, generously dedicated by Eyal and Shoshi Greenbaum, in honor of their dear parents Uri and Leah Greenbaum and Paul and Dianne Greenberg, along with countless donors from Israel and abroad. On Thursday, the procession began from the home of Rav Nosson Kopshitz, the Rav of the Menucha VeNachala neighborhood, passing through all of the city neighborhoods. All the while, the students from the yeshiva danced and celebrated on top of special trucks decorated for the occasion. Loud music blasted from the trucks’ loudspeakers, as they stopped at every talmud Torah in the city so that the students could be a part of the celebration despite the necessary limitations due to the coronavirus. The talmud Torah students greeted the procession with flags and singing, as the Otzar HaTorah students distributed bags of treats.
Rabbi Shimon Levy, CEO of Seeach Sod, said, “This is an important day for our students and for the residents of Beit Shemesh. Today we merited that all of the students in the city participated in a moving event – the dedication of a special Sefer Torah to a special yeshiva in a special community.”
The event concluded with the entrance of the Sefer Torah into the yeshiva building, as the students danced and sang around it, in honor of the Torah.
