Seeach Sod was honored to host Deputy Minister of Education Rabbi Meir Porush, who was impressed by the degree of cooperation between Seeach Sod and the Beit Shemesh municipality in establishing the unique yeshiva.
The new yeshiva was established to assist the families of Beit Shemesh who until now were compelled to send their sons to schools outside of the city. During the coronavirus crisis, doing so became particularly difficult, and Seeach Sod – in partnership with the Beit Shemesh municipality – therefore established the new yeshiva. Yeshivat Otzar HaTorah joins the Supported Housing program and Day-Hab program for adults that already exist and continue to expand in Beit Shemesh.
The school year opened with great excitement for the students, who enjoy a regular yeshiva atmosphere and schedule while receiving all necessary assistance and therapies.
The new school year similarly began in Seeach Sod’s other new educational programs, including a school for boys and young men on the autistic spectrum, a school for boys and young men with intellectual disabilities, and a school for girls and young women that emphasizes functional skills. The wide range of Seeach Sod’s programs enables a perfect fit between each child and his or her school.
Also participating in the tour of Yeshivat Otzar HaTorah – Beit Shemesh were members of the Beit Shemesh municipality and education department.
“This is a dream come true,” parents recounted at the event. “The fact that the municipality’s response to the need was out of responsibility demonstrates a noteworthy turn of events. We are deeply grateful to Seeach Sod, the Beit Shemesh municipality, the Ministry of Education, and everyone who helped. Don’t stop until you have opened programs for everyone!”
