When Michal first arrived, she was very restless and suffered from anxiety and outbursts of crying, and she was unable to express herself verbally. Her parents felt helpless. They could not leave their daughter with anyone else for even a moment. The Daycare staff immediately determined that Michal suffers from a sensory regulation disorder, and the occupational therapist and other staff began to provide intensive therapy to help overcome it. Michal became more relaxed, and her crying decreased to the point that it nearly stopped entirely. She communicates with her surroundings and actively participates in her therapy.
Michal’s grandmother recently celebrated her 80th birthday. After years in which Michal’s parents were not able to attend family gatherings, they were able to attend the party – and Michal came, too! The extended family was amazed to see the remarkable change in Michal, who was clearly the star of the event.
