In order to assist families in coping with the coronavirus crisis, Seeach Sod, with the help of the Beit Shemesh municipality, opened this education option in the city so that parents would not have to send their children to school in Jerusalem, a trip that would pose many challenges given the circumstances.
Rav Kopshitz has been personally involved with the school and is a strong supporter of providing the option of such an educational institution for the residents of the city. He affixed the mezuza to the building, and he had the opportunity to witness firsthand the learning that takes place in the yeshiva. He was particularly impressed by the fact that the students act and are treated as typical yeshiva students, studying gemara in a manner that is made accessible and appropriate for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities without neglecting professional therapeutic and enrichment services. Rav Kopshitz warmly blessed the students and staff: “In the merit of your efforts, may you see great salvation!”
The parent representative similarly thanked Seeach Sod for the continued efforts on behalf of the students: “No one understands more than us parents how much effort went into opening a school for our children in Beit Shemesh. Instead of spending time traveling, our children now use it for learning, and this leads to a better quality of life for them. We warmly welcome the opening of the yeshiva in the city.
Rav Shimon Levy, CEO of Seeach Sod, concluded the ceremony: “Rosh Chodesh Tamuz 5780 will go down in history as the day the yeshiva opened in the great city of Beit Shemesh. We have merited to expand the borders of Torah in Seeach Sod, and we wish continued success to the quality staff and the students.”
After the ceremony, Rav Kopshitz accompanied Rav Levy on a tour of Seeach Sod’s programs in the city. He visited one of the supported housing apartments in the city, and he was once again impressed by the homelike atmosphere and the dedicated assistance that the residents receive.
