Our Story

Founded in 1982, Seeach Sod opened as a grassroots effort when the landscape for special needs care in Israel was bleak and there were virtually no professional frameworks or community resources tailored to the Orthodox community.

What began as a visionary proposal to open a single, nurturing preschool for young children quickly sparked a revolution. Over five decades, Seeach Sod has expanded into the premier national network of state-of-the-art educational campuses, therapeutic centers, vocational programs, and community residences. While our scope and services have grown beyond estimation, our foundational belief remains unchanged: Every person is an entire world and deserves a beautiful, purposeful life filled with dignity and happiness.

Rabbi Dov Levy, z”l Visionary Founder of Charedi Special Education in Israel

Seeach Sod began with a father’s love and revolutionary vision. Following the birth of his eldest son with Down’s syndrome in 1971, Rabbi Dov Levy z”l set out to create the specialized care his son deserved. Facing a complete lack of resources, funding, and institutional support within the Charedi sector, his relentless dedication laid the bricks for the community’s first-ever rehabilitative school, permanently transforming the future of special education.

Confronting massive bureaucratic hurdles, Rabbi Levy fought tirelessly to secure institutional support. All along, he emphasized his modest, yet inspirational goal: All Jewish children should learn to recite a blessing and Krias Shema, diverse abilities notwithstanding. From that holy foundation, his students defied expectations to advance in every realm of life, with many continuing to master Gemara, integrate successfully into the workforce, and achieve remarkable levels of personal independence.

Rabbi Levy’s noble character and unassuming nature, coupled with his visionary spirit and unflagging determination, permanently transformed our community, turning Seeach Sod into a world-renowned, prestigious organization that provides a true home and purposeful life for thousands of children and adults.

In the winter of 2007, Rabbi Levy restored his pure soul to his Maker, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy of education, therapy, and rehabilitation that stand as a living testament to his faith, relentless dedication and unconditional love of his fellow man.

Seeach Sod’s vital work is built upon four essential pillars:

Education

Our educational programs serve a full continuum of ages, providing comprehensive support from early childhood through adulthood. Our specialized preschools, Talmud Torahs, schools, Yeshivos, high schools and seminaries are custom-tailored to maximize each student's functional capabilities and help them realize their full potential.

Community Living

Seeach Sod’s groundbreaking residential network has transformed the landscape of special needs housing. With over 100 community homes, we cater to varying levels of independence and support children and adults of all ages, offering tailored settings for both individuals and married couples.

Welfare and Vocational Programs

We empower adults with special needs to integrate naturally into community life and the workforce. Operating separate divisions for men and women, our network features advanced vocational centers, employment training groups, and comprehensive adult day facilities.

Respite Care

We offer premium overnight accommodations for children with special needs throughout the year, including weekends and Yamim Tovim. Children of all ages thrive in the warm, welcoming, and fully Torah-observant environment of our resort-like respite centers, gifting parents and families with a crucial break and peace of mind.
