Frequently Asked Questions
What is a “dual diagnosis”, and how does your program address it?
Dual diagnosis refers to the combination of an intellectual disability paired with complex emotional, sensory, or behavioral challenges. At Shvilim, we address this profile with an extensive multidisciplinary team, warm emotional support, and adaptive teaching methods that systematically build confidence and reinforce the personal independence of every student.
My daughter is completely nonverbal. How will your team connect with her?
We implement a variety of Augmentative and Assistive Communication (AAC) frameworks customized to your daughter’s unique cognitive and motor profile. This includes the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), specialized visual grids, physical gestures, and speech-generating iPads which all help her express her desires and be understood by those in her environment.
